2. Information We Collect About Users
We collect data about you when you use our services. In addition to this, third parties may also collect data about you when you use our services. The collected data may consist of personal information that could recognize you, as well as non-personal information. All your information is referred to as ‘your data’ for short.
In order to register yourself for our services and create an account, you must provide a valid email address and password. If you choose to sign up and/or authenticate using any third-party account (e.g. Facebook, Google), then we collect the Data that you have agreed to share via the social media site or third party platform in question.
While availing any services, you will be asked to provide a valid payment method (e.g. debit card, credit card, or PayPal account). Our authorized payment vendors will collect the payment information provided by you and then proceed with the rest of the process. We do not directly collect or store credit or debit card numbers ourselves in the ordinary course of processing transactions. If purchase through third-party platforms, such as in-app purchases, is allowed, then we will charge the money from the payment method stored with the third-party platform.
If you want to sell your items or earn money by placing advertisements on our platforms, then you must provide the details of the account through which you want to receive funds and tax information, which may consist of your name, address, and taxpayer identification number.
The account holders of our platform can create a VdoET profile and upload their content, such as videos, pictures, artwork, and text. Your VdoET profile may display information about you and your activities on the platform. This information may be accessed by others. Your videos may be viewed and otherwise accessed by others, and associated metadata (e.g., titles, descriptions, tags, etc.) are viewable by others. Your interaction with the other users of our platform (e.g., ‘comments’, ‘likes’, ‘private messages’) may be seen by others. You can restrict the availability of your profile and the uploaded content. For more information, please refer to Section 9.
If you wish to you create or edit your pictures or videos by using our video creation and editing tools, you give us the consent to analyze the content using various techniques, including machine-learning algorithms, only for the purpose of creating or editing the submitted content at your direction. In doing so, we may derive facial-related information from your content solely for the purpose of creating or editing the content under your instructions. This information may be used for performing various functions, such as locating a face within frame, etc. Facial landmarks are retained for 48 hours after a video editing session. VdoET doesn’t collect, store, or use any facial-related information outside the purpose of creating or editing the content.
By registering or signing up for our services, you will be submitting data for availing of customer support, participating in surveys, answering a questionnaire, entering sweepstakes or contests, and communicating with us or another user.
Data collected by Third Parties
Some third-party platforms may collect information about your activities on our platform. This information may include submitted data (such as payment information) or automatically gathered information (in the case of third-party analytics, providers and advertising partners).
We may collect information about you from third parties. We may use that data along with the information collected by us. For example, some advertising platforms or advertisers may allow us to obtain information about the other online services that you might use so that we may show you advertisements related to your interests.
3. How Your Data is Used
VdoET may use the information collected from you for the below-mentioned purposes:
Authentication and identification: We make use of your information to verify you whenever you use your account.
Providing smooth user experience: We may make use of your information to offer our services, provide customer support, process orders, and to otherwise fulfill our official commitments with you. We and/or our third-party vendors use your payment-related information to process your purchases and send you the amount earned by you.
Establishing communication: We make use of your information while communicating with you. For example, when we respond to any query or customer support requests.
Improving our services: We make use of your information to get details about the usage of our services and ways of improving them. In general, we analyze all the aggregated information, rather than specific user-based information. However, we may need to analyze specific cases to address specific queries and problems. For instance, if a bug that causes a problem to only a few accounts.
Customizing user experience: We make use of your information to customize our services for you. This may include remembering your language, volume, or displaying preferences that might be suitable for you, depending upon choices made by you.
Advertising and promoting: We make use of your information to display ads on third-party platforms and to send you exciting offers. We may also make use of your information in displaying third-party advertisements. This may include ‘targeted ads’ depending upon your online activities.
Using our rights: Whenever and wherever necessary, we make use of your information to exercise our legal rights and restrict illegal use of our services. For example, we may use your information for the detection and prevention of spam, fraud, or content that violates our policies and Terms of Service.
Legal compliance: We make use of your information where we may need to do so. For example, we may need to collect information about you to respond to a court order or subpoena.
Securing your data: Wherever necessary and appropriate, we may anonymize, backup, and delete certain information.
We may make use of algorithms and other technologies to perform any of the above-mentioned functions.
Whenever we use your data for one of the mentioned functions, we have determined that one or more of the below-mentioned lawful bases get applied:
Performance of a contract;
Legitimate commercial interest;
Compliance with a legal obligation; or

We share the collected information with third parties as follows:
As per your instructions: We may make use of your profile and uploaded content to others as you give us your permission in using our services. We may also share your information with persons whom you have allowed access to your account.
With your consent: We may share your information with third parties where we have received your express consent on doing so.
Attributed vendors: We may share your information with third-party vendors that help us in operating the services of our platform, processing placed orders, and complying with your instructions and our contractual obligations. This consists of content delivery networks (CDNs), payment processors, monitoring services, cloud-based hosting services, email service providers, fraud and abuse prevention vendors, testing vendors and quality assurance, shipment vendors, and customer relations management (CRM) vendors.
Advertisement: We may share your information with advertising companies to showcase advertisements related to your online activities and preferences.
Analytics: We may share your information with providers of analytics that help us in understanding the usage pattern of our customers.
Advisors and affiliates: We may share your information with our parent company, IAC/InterActiveCorp, and our auditors as well as advisors for financial reporting, planning, tax filings, auditing, accounting, and legal compliance. We may share your information with our affiliates to the extent needed to provide you with the services that you have ordered.
Legal situations: We may share your information where we realize that disclosure is needed to comply with a legal obligation or in connection with a corporate transaction. Please refer to Section 6 for information on corporate transactions and other related components.
Anonymized or aggregated information: Non-personal aggregated or anonymized information, such as the number of people visiting our platform and that of registered users, may get publicly disclosed by us.
We put forward our best efforts in scrutinizing the vendors for their privacy and data security practices. We need that such vendors agree to protect the data shared by us.
5. Legitimate and Security-Related Disclosures
On official requests, such as court orders, orders from government authorities or parties, subpoenas, national security arrests, search warrants, etc., we may have to reveal your information. We direct the law enforcement agencies to our Law Enforcement Guidelines page.
We may disclose the information collected from users whenever and wherever we believe that someone’s life is in danger. For example, if we get to know that someone is threatening another person, hatching plans to commit a crime or suicide, we may share that user’s information with the concerned authorities/entities/bodies that may be able to help.
We report any content that exploits minors to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) along with all the information about the uploading account holder.
We may disclose information related to the users in certain situations, such as in case of any legal claims is raised against us or one of our users. If you submit a Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) or other takedown notice, we may send that notice to the concerned user. If you challenge the claims or allegations raised against you or your content, we may share your response with the accuser.
6. Retention of information
We retain your information for as long as you use our platform and are an account holder. As soon as you close your account from our platform, we will delete its content, including the uploaded videos. We may retain the logs of automatically gathered data (for internal analytics and safety purposes); your tax information; your email address; communications with you; and all the information related to your transactions (for tax, auditing, and financial matters). We will delete the data when we feel that there is no business-related reason left for its retention.
We keep the deleted videos stored in our servers for a short span of time, in case you wish to reverse its deletion. But, once a video gets deleted from our servers, you will not be able to get it back or recover it. If any video is made public on previous occasions, the video or its thumbnail may still be available in the cache of a search engine for some time. We do not possess any control over such search engines; however, on placing requests, we will send a request t the search engines for deleting the video.
If we receive legal process pertaining to your account, we will retain your data for as long as we in good faith believe is necessary to comply with the legal process. Similarly, if it comes to our notice that your account has been involved in illegal activities, we may store your information to defend our legal rights.
7. Privacy Choices for The Users
We allow our users to make various choices about their information:
You may opt-out of sharing certain information with us. For example, you may opt-out of creating an account or providing any optional account information.
You may change the privacy settings related to your account and uploaded videos. Refer to Section 9 for more information on this.
You may change or correct information voluntarily submitted to us. We suggest you to always keep your data updated by frequently visiting our account’s settings page.
You may not accept the option of receiving commercial emails from us. Refer to Section 10 for more information on this.
You may store your videos by creating their backups.
You may close your account (which will delete all videos) or delete certain videos.
Users belonging to certain jurisdictions may have some additional rights. Refer to Section 14 for more information on this.
8. Video Privacy and Account Settings
As per our company policies, we allow our users to the distribution of their uploaded content, including the videos. Refer to this section for more details on your choices.
We offer our users various online subscription plans, some of which allow the users to ‘hide’ their official profile or make it inaccessible on our platform. However, persons whom you have given access to your account or content will be able to access your profile.
You can allow account-level access to persons of your choice through some of our subscription plans. Such persons are termed as ‘Team Members’ and may see your data and alter it as well. You may downgrade or restrict Team Member access at any moment.
We allow our service-users to customize the privacy settings of their videos. On vdoet.com, for example, their options, which depend on their subscription plan, may consist of:
Just the user (i.e., "only me"): Video of the account holder will be accessible to them and the authorized Team Members.
Public (or "anyone"): The user’s video will be made available to the public.
Selected people: The user’s video will be made available to the selected users (such as the users that they follow or specifically-selected users).
Password-protected: The user’s video may be accessible to anyone who has access to the password of the user’s account.
Private link: The user’s video may be accessible to anyone who enters the particular link assigned to the video.
Users can change and manage privacy settings at any moment. The changes will be applied on a go-forward basis. The user must always be cautious before granting access to their account to others. Once someone other than the user has been granted access to the account, the user loses an extent of control over the distribution of the videos as the attributed person may share the account information and/or links with other persons. Irrespective of your account or video privacy settings, VdoET reserves all the rights to scrutinize them for compliance with its Terms of Service, to address technical glitches/bugs/issues and provide support to the customers.
9. Communication with Us
Communication through Mobile Device
With the consent of the users, our team may send push notifications through our apps. By changing the settings of the app, you will be able to disable receiving such notifications. To the extent provided, we may, with your consent, send SMS messages to your mobile telephone for authentication and security purposes. You may disable the setting related to receiving such messages at any moment.
Communication through Emails
On creation of an account on our profile, our team may send you commercial emails, including newsletters and offers. You can always disable the option of receiving commercial messages through account settings. Please take note that any request regarding ‘opting out’ of any service may take several days to process and you may continue to receive emails regarding transaction confirmations, information about your account, etc.
10. Protection of Your Data
We make use of organizational, technical, and physical security measures to protect your information from accidental or unauthorized disclosure; however, we do not guarantee 100% security of your data. Users also need to be cautious regarding the safety of their information. We suggest our users to make use of a strong and unique password for their accounts and restrict themselves from sharing the password with others. You should only give access to your account to persons whom you trust, and, even then, you should be cautious in providing access to all the rights. You should monitor your account details and privacy settings on a regular basis. If you believe that some other person has gained access to your account without your consent, please contact us immediately, so that we can inspect the matter.
11. Your Responsibilities
You may receive information from other users while using our services. If you receive such information from other users, you must comply with all the laws, including those concerned with data security, privacy, and online marketing.
